BMW ahead of Audi and Mercedes for August
August deliveries for BMW rose 11.1 percent and sold 85,003 units. Audi, Volkswagen’s premium brand had a sales growth of 4.2 percent to 66,400 vehicles. For Mercedes, its C-class salon boosted its August sales with 9.1 percent to 89,100 units according to DaimlerChrysler.
Demands for BMW’s Mini brand soared last month that it gave the German automaker an over-all sales of 99,755 units gaining 12.9 percent. BMW leaves Mercedes group a long way for selling 96,200 units to already include the Smart brand of Daimler.
“We have undertaken to achieve sales growth in 2007 in the upper single-digit percentage range. We are well on the way to meeting this objective,” says Michael Ganal, BMW’s head of sales and marketing in a statement.
The Rolls-Royce, BMW’s super-luxury brand had reported relatively flat sales in the past years. But from January to August, it remarkably increased its sales by 15 percent to selling 459 units.
To add all up, BMW group had total sales of 952, 929 units, an increase of 7.1 percent.
Volkswagen’s premium brand, Audi also increased their deliveries by 4.2 for its export markets, compensating to the decreasing demands in Germany . Audi also had sales boost of 24 percent in China, almost 18 percent in Britain, and 7.1 percent in the US . Although exact figures are not available, Audi also had noticeable sales increase in Russia, Africa and Middle East . But on the contrary, Audi had a 7.7 percent sales fall in Germany with its A4.
“The scheduled end of production is having an impact on this high-selling model,” says Audi Germany Head of Sales, Joerg Felske.
